A message to everyone, search “Truth Contest” in Google and click on the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. Everyone needs to see this. The Present will turn this world right-side up if it reaches enough people.

Hold on,,,,,this actually done really badly.. Astrology is thousands of years of behavior data….that isn’t influencing the people per say just more time then not people seem to act this way at that time…Free will still exists within this theory. We are not dictated by the stars. The newspaper astrologers are crap and always have been….I mean seriously not even remotely done well…Sorry this research on this subject and expose was not done very scientifically.

A good critique of astrology without being too strident like James Randi can be.

@rockinroller1028 “A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.” – Albert Einstein, What I’m saying is science is by it’s fundamental nature non-dogmatic and amenable to new information. Yes, science has done horrible things, and yes scientists make mistakes, but fundamental to the very nature of science is it’s error correcting mechanism which is non-existent in any of the worlds religions. Science does not pretend to know things that are uncertain.

  5. agtheking :

@rockinroller1028 defending it but everything that’s new is always changing. And when new information is put in to the scientific playing field even old “truths” are up for grabs.

Look at Newtons theory of gravity being trumped with general relativity after so long being considered the ultimate truth even forced on science by religious dogma.

  6. agtheking :

@rockinroller1028 If anything the problem is that people don’t listen to science enough. People get their scientific information from reporters that don’t know nothing about it at all, distorting the original conclusion. Correlation becomes causation, a single scientists theory becomes truth and so on.

And you can’t call it dogma since well, it never stays the same. The basics stays the same like the view of astrology, it’s so incredibly clear that it’s bullshit that you would be laught at.

  7. agtheking :

@rockinroller1028 But that’s the point of science. To truly test it, share your finding and then people try to falsify it. Humans are too limited to know everything and scientists are the best people to admit it. Get them to talk outside of their field of interest and most of them admit they are unsure of they they are claiming very fast.

I don’t think you can compare religious FAITH with skeptical trust in the self correcting system of science.

  8. rockinroller1028 :

@rockinroller1028 of course this isn’t to say these theories are false, i’m merely playing devil’s advocate. this is just to point out the fact that many “intellectuals” and skeptics wouldn’t know up from down if the science community didn’t confirm it.

  9. rockinroller1028 :

@Itseasyifyoutry of course science is important to the advancement of human intelligence, i didn’t deny that. but science, like humankind, is not perfect and never will be. unfortunately many people seem to be stuck on the notion that science is infallible, making science itself into a sort of religious dogma for a new era. few people here would deny theories such as evolution or the big bang, and yet many wouldnt be tell you why they believe it other than the fact a bunch of scientists said so.

If we look at the bones of a Jesusaurus Rex…

  11. Itseasyifyoutry :

@rockinroller1028 True, but It’s important to note that science may be the only methodological medium that is by it’s fundamental nature -honest- about that which is known or evidenced and especially that which is unknown. That’s why the first man to land on the Moon was -not- a Charlatan religious leader, despite the immense wealth power and cultural dominance reaped by the religious elite for millenia.

  12. rockinroller1028 :

@claybfx your way of thinking is based on the assumption that humans can know anything through science and the five senses, and that if it can’t be proven it’s false. this is a very dangerous assumption my friend, humans think they know so much but in reality we know next to nothing when it comes to the whole universe. there are always unseen forces that drive every day life, so many things that slip right past your consciousness and into the back of your mind.dont assume you can know everything

  13. claybfx :

@rockinroller1028 Astrology has no bearing whatsoever on the kind of person you are. The signs were conjured up by the Babylonians over 2000 years ago. Back then, the constellation the sun passed on the day of your birth was your sign. The sun no longer passes over those same constellations at the same time, yet people are still going by that? Oh, and they added one in just last year to try and rectify, but it is still absurd.

  14. rockinroller1028 :

@claybfx i said before i believe that most horoscopes are bullshit, its right there. you would have seen it if you read. but horoscopes arent the only part of astrology, its not about predicting the future its about what kind of person you are

  15. rockinroller1028 :

@claybfx i’d be willing to have a discussion about this topic with anyone who can actually hold an intellectual conversation. skepticism can still be dogma if you dont know how to defend your argument

  16. claybfx :

@rockinroller1028 That you have an outlook other than “it’s complete bullshit” is sad. You want really simple evidence it’s bullshit? Get your horoscope from two different sources.

  17. rockinroller1028 :

@claybfx thanks man really convincing argument youve totally changed my outlook on astrology

  18. claybfx :

@rockinroller1028 Astrology is never real. Ever. Under any circumstances. It is superstitious pseudo-science

  19. rockinroller1028 :

@forgottenmemories63 you know, witty responses don’t make you’re right ;P i’m saying there are a lot of astrology reports that aren’t ambiguous. it’s always good to look at both sides of the argument before you make a decision. if you look into astrology thinking its fake, it will seem fake to you. same thing can be said for a lot of scientific theories, doesn’t mean they’re wrong though

  20. forgottenmemories63 :

@rockinroller1028 You’d be surprised how detailed Pokemon can be, But that doesn’t mean Pokemon are real.

  21. ebrobaru :

@rockinroller1028 fair enough. Can you give me some examples?

  22. rockinroller1028 :

@ebrobaru you’d be surprised how detailed some astrology reports are actually

  23. ebrobaru :

@rockinroller1028 The problem is that they are always general ambigous traits, and usually good ones. So anybody can relate to them

  24. rockinroller1028 :

@rockinroller1028 this isn’t meant to prove anything, of course. but my point is, look into it! you might surprised. most horoscopes are bullshit, but look up the qualities of all your signs (rather than just your sun sign, or “horoscope” sign) and see if they describe you in any way. if you still disagree, fine. just check it out before you pass it off!

  25. rockinroller1028 :

@rockinroller1028 i do consider myself a skeptic before anything else; i was raised catholic and became the first atheist in my family. if someone were to give me reasonable proof that astrology has absolutely no root in truth, i would easily accept it. but what i’ve learned tells me that there is at least some shred of truth in it. look at carl sagan’s sign for example, scorpio. scorpios are renowned for their ability to dig up the truth and solve mysteries, just as sagan did during his life.
